How to get rid of Web-clipped pages' images in batch?

What do you need help with?

When using the web clipper, the webpage is added to my objects as a page;
Inside that page, there’re some embedded images, on deleting those images by “Delete block” option or by deleting the whole web-clipped page, those images are still found in that channel/space’s storage.

This becomes a real mess with webpages that contain tons of images, especially that those images can’t be filtered/selected based on specific criteria in the Images query.

I could have selected Images with links to/from a specific page and delete them in one step rather than manually selecting them in the Channel’s remote storage window.

That’s one of the reasons why backlinks for images are so important.
It would help a lot to clean up the mess.
But there are more reasons why backlinks are indispensable.

So, there is no easy way to remove those images?

I tried to clip this very current topic page, I got all of these images of users cluttering my remote storage window:

And another problem, those images were being added actively as if the page was downloading to my space, mid-downloading images, I permanently deleted the clipped page and those images kept being downloaded/added to the remote storage.

I don’t use the web clipper, I do the copy & paste manually. Although it’s more work, I prefer to have full control about what lands in my Space.

There is still the problem with many many images that may be trash, but unfortunately, without backlinks it’s simply impossible to decide if they are really trash.
And no, as far as I know there is no usable way to get rid of them.
We simply need the Backlinks.

With backlinks, we could simply use a Query to get rid of the thrash manually. Or later, we could use AI or the API if they add the feature to integrate self written Addons.

I can only give the advice to vote for this FR:
https://community.anytype.io/t/backlinks-for-images-should-be-automatically-generated/29421?u=code-jack

The problem is those images aren’t even accessed in the space itself, they only appear on that Remote Storage list.

Another case in which they pile up in the Remote Storage, is the bookmarks, the favicons quickly add up to that list.

You can add Origin: Webclipper in a query filter

I tried the following criteria for queries but none of them work:

Object type –> Image

Object type –> Image + Origin –> Web Clipper

Origin –> Web Clipper

Indeed, the Origin filter doesn’t work. I’ve reported it:

I’ve just double checked, both imported and webclipper images have origin relation and the filter works, so we would need more details.

Here is a link I added through web clipper and still no images show in the query, tried those 3 possibilities:

Object type –> Image

Object type –> Image + Origin –> Web Clipper

Origin –> Web Clipper

I just created a web clip with page content. It also saved a lot of images.

But none of them appear in the Images Type system query.

when I click the properties panel info icon a few times they show up

but nothing in the query (restarted AT, too)

Is anyone on macOS able to even start the clipper on Chrome? @krst Are you on Windows?

no, macOS and chromium based browser (Helium)

This was changed in 0.44.0, and these images no longer appear in the UI:

I’ve already asked our product team if we plan on reconsidering this change.

there is another topic here that pasted images can not be selected as icons or covers, so it’s basically the same problem

I’m not sure if this topic should be marked as solved

So, are there any plans for it?

I’m able to select pasted images as icons or covers (macOS, 0.51.38-beta)

I also had an issue with pairing today. I restarted anytype, opened a new tab in the browser and I was able to pair again. perhaps this also helps in your case

I even uninstalled/re-installed the Web Clipper Extension, still no luck.
