Good idea! Even though it’s not pratical to create whiteboards on my laptop, if I had a touchscreen setup, it would be a nice feature to have. Excalidraw wouldn’t be that hard since it’s open source and, as Obsidian demonstrates, would work in an Electron app like Anytype. This would probably be an idea for a plugin to be created later on.
hi, excalidraw is a great tool but what make it very incredible is the integration plugin with Obsidian (Obsidian Excalidraw Plugin. The developer, Zsolt Viczián, is doing a great job both in terms of programming and in terms of dissemination / documentation. Would be great if excalidraw integration with anytype will be similar to the obsidian excalidraw plugin and not a simple integration of the excalidraw official tool.
Hi i use obsidian for studying and i use and plugin that work with exalidraw and its very usefull for drawing and many much other things that can e usefull in many situation if we can add it ?
Would be great if we had Excalidraw to create some graphs and visual diagrams as in obisdian
Also would be great if the user could link existing anytype objetcs like documents/pages and etc. to Excalidraw objects so you can create your own graphs or business processes.
Excalidraw have their own integration instructions so you can follow it to build and then integrate Excalidraw into Anytype
I am using Anytype for planning, constructing and building my own VPN protocol and i need a lot of graphs and visual representations, so i really want to be able to do so inside anytype, because i have a lot of other anytype objects that have explanations and code blocks, so if i could in one place create a graph and link to it’s objects some anytype blocks i would be extremely happy and it would save a lot of time.
Also i think that Excalidraw could be used in some business planning and even students and teachers could use it, because you can draw whatever you want. For example med students could create personal drawings about cells they are studying or even draw body parts and have lecture notes linked to the drawings
I personally think, that this would expand anytypes capabilities to a whole new level!
Also i would like to mention that Excalidraw already supports E2E encryption and it regulates under MIT license, so there should be now worries to use it
I guess this is possible through embeds, hope to see it next release.
I would also like to be able to use Excalidraw in anytype
Hi!
Embeds would not have the same functionality as the excalidraw plug-in of obsidian. The features where I can link a obsidian file to the excalidraw image is the feature I want the most. And embed would not do that.
Have a good day.
This is exactly what I’m looking for, linking notes and files/images.
According to me Excalidraw integration have to become a type of “whiteboard/map view” as heptabase and Affine do with their whiteboard.
i want this too! i wish anytype have canvas !
I’m adding my vote to this. There’s support for Miro, a closed source tool. It would be wonderful to have support for this incredible open-source tool, which, I think, is more in phase with Anytype’s philosophy! ![]()
Would there be any way to display an embed, even if no editing is possible inside Anytype? That would probably reduce the workload.
As someone thinking of getting an iPad for school, this would be huge to have. +1 vote
i am visual thinker and features like canvas or excalidraw is a big part of my workflow
i don’t know tech details but could connect with author
it is big part of tech tech team collaboration . just a whiteboards on steroids
it is available as standalone app and web app so I could store files or export images but it broke workflow
Current workaround: Excalidraw embeds - #5 by mandem
Can be self-hosted with docker…
