WHAT IS THE BUG
I saw a post regards the new tab feature so tried to install on my new laptop. It opens the new app as normal and suggests it needs updating (weird), and then freezes on an error screen.
HOW TO REPRODUCE IT
Remove the app from an apple desktop and try to reinstall
THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
The fresh install to be uptodate and working

Desktop: m1 macbook air
Mobile: Profile > About > Tech info
Hey, do you mind sharing if you get any error messages or logs when the crash happens?
Also, could you please to a complete reinstall by renaming your work directory as well?
You can find the location of it here (it depends on your OS).
It isnt a crash passe, if i do a totally fresh install it asks me to update the app immediately, then gives me a big error when i try? The old app crashed but i totally removed that
Which app version are you trying to install exactly? Also, what happens if you just don’t decide to install when you get the prompt?
its for mac so whichever is the one the website delivers, which i perhaps wrongly assumed would be the upto date one?
If i dont update i cant proceed
Does anyone else have any help for this please? It can’t just be me as it is happening on multiple devices now.
I can handle not having access to the app but I have a paid subscription that it says I can only cancel on desktop app. Which I now can not use
What version were you trying to update from? You can always download the most recent version from the website or from github. What do you mean by crashes? Send a picture of the crash and/or crash logs.
This is what I am trying to say. I am downloading the app from the website, it installs and then immediately tells me to update when first opened. If I click to update I get an error message. This is on 2 separate computers so there is no way it’s just me it’s happening to.
Perhaps I’m phrasing it badly so it goes like this:
Get rid of any Anytype remnants from my machine.
Go to Anytype website and click to download for my machine
Open the new install, immediately asked to update (which I think is bizarre)
Try to update, perpetual error.
This is on 2 separate macs, one desktop one laptop. One of those never had Anytype on previously.
Could you please copy the error message you are getting? Would be very helpful.

forgive me i dont use telegram, i meant can i message you on here or something? I didnt know if ther was a safe way on here. I DO have access to simplexchat and keet if wanting to keep phone numbers and emails off line, but dont know if that helps
FYI i have just tried again from the option on here and am getting the exact same result. Install for mac, agree to open app from the internet, immediately met with a request to update, then an error screen
