Dark Mode text is too much white and cant distinguish Bold text

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

Improve Default Color of the text. There are 2 problems when reading content in Dark Mode:

  1. The text is 100% white. If the content is too long it hurts the eyes and hard-to-read. If we look at other apps, when using dark mode the text is not 100%, but only 60% white for example.
  2. The BOLD text is hard to distinguish. Although it’s bold text but it looks really like normal text. I think it maybe because the default text color is too much white.
Please look at my screenshot and see the bold text.

Your concern is valid; I also find dark mode more irritating to the eyes. I think the most immediate solution is to use custom CSS to change the text color yourself. There are plenty of tutorials for custom CSS available in this community.

We agree on the first point and hope to resolve the issue soon.

However, our designers disagree on the second one. It’s common practice to use 400 for regular and 600 for bold. We experimented with a font weight of 700 a few years ago, but it looked too bold.

Maybe the compromise could be to retain the weight of Bold, but if body text goes more grey, bold could stay white?
