Question: space-wide properties
We’ve been in the kitchen and cooking. We’ve run into a user-experience dilemma that we’d love your feedback on. Some quick descriptions (not final names):
Space-wide Properties— is a property that you can apply to multiple Collections. Example: you have a ‘Recommendation’ property that can used on your Books Collection, Movies Collection, etc.Collection-specific Properties— is a property that is only accessible to the single Collection. Example: you have a ‘Category’ select property for Events Collection, which is specific only to Events. You can then have another ‘Category’ select property for Projects Collection, which is a different property with different select options.
In the new Collections 2.0 system, you are able to apply as many Collections as you’d like to an object (one or many). Because of this, you can effectively use Collections as faux-space-wide property. In other words, you can treat Collections like tags.
The necessity for Collection-specific Properties is clear. However the argument for Space-wide Properties is less clear, do you feel it is something you need? If so, can you describe how you’d use it?
P.S. I will write a reply to the other comments a little later.
