If you open a new contact object and try and enter data for the birthday field there is no combination of characters that will let you type a date into the field without using the picker. Ideally one would be able to enter all field by typing and tabbing to move on but iI have been unable to do so without using the calendar widget.
How To Reproduce It
Open a new contact type object
Try and type a valid date only using the keyboard
The Expected Behavior
Type and store a date
Additional Context
I was trying to figure out whether the field was looking for “MM-DD-YYYY” or “DD-MM-YYYY” so I paused after entering the first 2 digits. If you do that (e.g., type “24” and wait) then you’re in a weird limbo state. You can’t keep typing. Digits don’t work. “/” or ." doesn’t work. Your only recourse is to highlight the “MM” digits and over type and then you’re stuck again and have to highlight the “YYYY” digits and overtype. If you can type “DDMMYYYY” fast enough to beat the event it’s all good. But if you pause at all (e.g., after “24”) then you get stuck and see “24.01.0___” and are in that weird stuck state. Ideally “/” or “.” would move me past “DD” and into “MM” or at least the event that fires would wait until I tab out or something to do it’s logic.

It should be possible… it even auto corrects my 22th month to December… Do you have any other information that could help team understand the situation?
Tested with identical software with MacBook Air M1.
P.S. The timing of auto-input/detect is too quick that it is hard to input full number if I took a second to realise what the second number would be.
Thank you! Watching your video helped me hone in on the problem. When typing in a date in a relation on desktop, after a few milliseconds, it tries to “parse” the date and “fill the rest”, making it really hard to just type a date.
This is valid :
in a grid
when having a relation embedded in a page
in a relation not displayed (in the “triangle menu” in the top right corner)
How To Reproduce It
have a document with a date relation
try to edit the relation, it displays __.__.____
type “2” and wait half a second
it displays 02.01.0___, with the cursor between 0 et 2
The Expected Behavior
When typing whatever, it should not be reflected immediately in the relation/component, but on focus loss (clicking elsewhere, pressing tab or enter)
Additional Context
There are multiples bugs around this, this is only one use-case that is faulty.

In line with this bug, when I delete a part of a date when editing a date relation, after about 1 second of me doing nothing it automatically replaces the values instead of waiting. I’m on a Mac, Sonoma 14.6.1, Anytype version: 0.42.8.
