AT team stance

I have a quick question about AT team.
Since AT was founded by Zhanna and Anton - who are Russians - and there are many Russians in the current team, I would like to know what is AT exact stance on Russian invasion of Ukraine?

Here’s a direct answer from Anton, one of our founders:

I always find it best if software companies stay out of politics.

Wars are terrible, we can all agree on that.
But the minute we start saying who is guilty, to what degree, who is corrupt, who is not - we express our biases. A lot of our biases come from mass media and at this point, pretty much everyone agrees that media is a propagandist mouthpiece no matter the country. As such, if someone wanted to proclaim such country is this or that, it would require a deep dive into history, geopolitics and from various sources…and how many of us have done that? Too few. Thus, what we say is mere opinions, not facts.

Software companies should not act as celebrities do - proclaiming their opinions on such topics because neither the celebrities nor the software companies are experts on the topic and thus they will merely offer biased opinions.

We have seen enough of FOSS companies for example embracing ‘woke’ ideals or DEI…and it let to huge rifts in the community and people leaving and forking code…and splintering a group effort behind the project.

I would not want that to happen here.

If anyone feels like attacking me for this post, feel free to do so. But stick to what I actually said - and note my neutrality. I too could say a LOT on the topic of the war in Ukraine…but where would that lead, in a forum on P2P SOFTWARE? Absolutely nowhere. If you want to find the truth about any conflict, go and listen to independent sources on BOTH sides, and listen especially to whistleblowers and people that have much to lose. Look for red flags, inconsistencies in the narratives and you just may get closer to the truth on the topic…

You do you.
I - on the other hand - try and will try to avoid anything moscovian, murderous and terrorist regime related.

You also do political you - but elsewhere than on software forum
Kindly thank you for understanding.

I always thought Anytype was a German company and its founders were German.

Could you share more information about the Anytype team? For example:

  1. What is the name of the company responsible for developing and operating Anytype? In which country is the company located?
  2. Who are the company’s partners? Where are they from, and which country are they currently residing in?
  3. More information that could help me better understand Anytype…

Thank you so much! :green_heart:

Your presence alone (username and profile description) and your words are political statements, yet you say it should be the best to stay out of it. You are a hypocrite…

Interesting.
If my profile proudly proclaimed I am part of the LGBTQ, said “slava Ukraina”, praised Israel or any other ‘popular’ narratives, nobody here would think I am a hypocrite.

What is in my profile is in my profile. I don’t drag it out into the discussions (or at least I try not to, I am a fallible man).

Appreciate you proving my point

Cheers

  1. “ANY–A Swiss Association”. The choice of incorporating as an Association rather than an LLC or other legal structure distinguishes ANY as a company managed in accordance with commercial practices, but which exists for the greater good.
We consider ourselves a remote team, but we maintain one hub in Berlin (where our team is employed by our local GmbH, a subsidiary of the Swiss Association).

  2. I don’t know that but I would like to know too as a transparency repport. But knowing only the name, because knowing in which country they operate/live from is our duty, not Anytype’s.

  3. The team was initially mostly from Russia, both CEO seems to come from there, but they don’t live in Russia. They fight for digital freedom.
I invite you to watch every talk from Zhanna Sharipova

Bonus :

How about not praising anything and like you said yourself: leave politics out of here.

You did, right here:

And that’s why I call you a hypocrite. You say one thing but do the other.

“Let him that is without sin cast the first stone.”

That’s a pretty silly example. In order to stop the discussion on politics, I had to first call it out, by giving examples as to what happens if we drag politics here.

We both said our piece. I am glad we all agree to leave politics out of it.

Cheers

You pointed out an opinion here (that fits in your “unwoke” far right agenda) and not an objective fact

Thank you! The information you provided is very valuable. If there’s any news about the Anytype team in the future, please feel free to share it with me! :green_heart:

Thanks for those informations, as those will definitely help with keeping away of the country that - in its own words - tries to destroy the “collective west”.
