Add ability to move spaces / channels into folders

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

Users should be able to move their spaces or channels into folders in the spaces sidebar, similar to Discord servers. This would allow users to improve their organization.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE?

  • A user could drag a space with their mouse (or finger on mobile) over another space, which would create a folder that contains the two spaces
  • A user should also have the ability to name this folder
  • If the spaces sidebar is opened, it would display the name created.
  • If the spaces sidebar is not opened, it would just show smaller images of the space images used inside of a folder. It could also just display an editable folder emoji / icon

REAL WORLD USE CASES

At this point, I have nine separate spaces that I am fairly active in. I would like to organize those based on use case. For example, I would combine my four TTRPG spaces into one folder (yes I am a nerd :nerd_face:). I would also like a place to archive less-used spaces.

RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

Can’t think of any :man_shrugging:

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

While this might be better for a separate feature request, it would also be nice to have the ability to rearrange all of my spaces, not just the pinned ones. I know the workaround for this is to pin all the spaces, but that seems like it shouldn’t be necessary.

It would be a nice feature to add but this is not a priority for me. However, I confirm that being forced to pin each Space in order to be able to reorder them is very annoying.

Yeah that’s fair and I agree. This is definitely a nice-to-have, but I noticed that nobody had submitted a request for this yet, so I figured that we should at least document and get it prioritized somewhere in the queue of improvements.
