A new object (that doesn't have a title in the template) has no focus

What’s The Bug?

When I create a new note (CMD+N or via the + icon) and the default template of mine doesn’t have a title, the editor is not focused and I need to manually click on the editor.

How To Reproduce It

  • set an object with a template that doesn’t have a title as the default for new objects
  • create a new note
  • recognize that the editor is not focused and you are not able to type

that the editor is focused

sure:

edit: when the backlinks block is not the last one and I create a new line it focuses to it
perhaps Anytype could check if the last line in the template is an empty one and if not, it could create one?

Yeah, it’s an issue with the template. I can reproduce it if I add the backlink relation block.

I also have a side issue with this fix. After object creation, cursor position is not at the top.

Side note: I want my first cursor point to be the VerseRelation instead of any blocks :sweat_smile:

the questions could be:

  • should the user be able to choose the line where the focus will be?

yes

  • should the new object just use the last focus position before the template was closed?
    or
  • should the user be able to mark a line as a focus-line

no

  • should the first empty line Anytype finds be focused?
    or
  • should the last line always be the focused line?

if there is no empty line

  • Anytype should then always create a new empty line at the end of the template

That to me seems like intended behavior, but you can write a separate bug report or feature request for this.
