UI update for Space widget (v0.44.9)

?
Hum, pehaps because it has nothing to do with anything.
I’m not talking about the widgets (which have a lot of room for improvement, I hope a future release will address this), but about the former menu bar at the bottom of the screen.
You can find heated debates on the forum about how it works: what some people expected was the opposite of what others wanted.

if you work in the field or have worked with a team of developers (including designers, UX researchers, etc.), you must know how difficult it is to reach agreement. Just within the development team. And integrating a whole community of users with different needs, expectations, peripherals and methods of use is certainly not going to speed things up.

Yes, and it’s not that.
In the same post (or another), we made some proposals.
For my part, it would be :

  • better communication around user feedback (some posts never get any feedback, we don’t know if it’s taken into account/studied/rejected/…)
  • Prioritize UI and UX, which wasn’t the case when I posted this. It’s explained in the post.

Make images of every little UX change, I have nothing against it as long as it doesn’t slow down development.
But there’s sometimes a gulf between design (UI) and UX, and nothing beats the trial, the demo, the alpha.
