Tree widget view for Collections

Hi all,

when I started Antype a couple of weeks ago there was a very confusing thing with the views of types in the sidebar widgets:

With collections, that are meant to be used folder-like it is not possible to choose hierarchical view in the widget. So, you cannot use them like folders to build up a tree-like structure of collections/folders.

On the other hand, with all the page-formated types like page and note and project and task etc. it is possible le to choose hierarchical view in the widget and it works quite well.

It took me a while to find out, that collections are able to show hierarchical view if you do the following:

  1. Pin a page of your choice to the widget sidebar (PKM-Central in my example)
  2. Choose hierarchical view for the page in the widget setting
  3. Insert a link to the collection you want to show (here Anytype)
  4. Find the collection nested in your page within the widget.

The funny thing is that even collections themselves are able to be shown in hierarchical style already.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

Make it possible to set the view of collections in the sidebar widget to hierarchical style to skip the workaround with the pages hierarchical view.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE?

Add ierarchical view, do the setting when you decide how a collection is shown in the sidebar widget.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

Using collections like folders and building up a tree like a hierarchical system.

RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

ᅟKeeping the workaround via the pages, but this is really confusing and nobody will get the idea at once, especially if they are new to anytype.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

ᅟ I still love anytype very much and I would really like to make it happen for everybody.
