But it’s a good idea to be able to reuse an image anywhere

Three possibilities:
- Either by adding an option to “/image” (Paste a link, send an image or search for it in your Library), which will then copy the image.
But this creates a duplicate, with advantages and disadvantages - or via transclusion?
- or by using “link to an object”, which already exists. All you’d have to do is add an option to display the “Embedded” object… and in my opinion this would be the most relevant and could also be used for videos, audio, pdf,…
By the way, I can open a FR specifically for the latter solution, if the AT team deems it preferable (and relevant).
