My wife needs software to help her manage clients, and automated due dates, recurring tasks & reminders are essential to make any system effective. (Integration with google calendar is a big plus.)
I wish I could sit down with her for half a day and teach her everything Anytype. Instead, it looks like I’ll be teaching her Notion instead. Sigh
I use so many Excel sheets but I hate it because Excel is terrible on mobile devices and I don’t like how I can collaborate in Excel via OneDrive.
I don’t htink Anytype needs to be the next Excel and propably doesn’t need as many formulas but here are some formulas/calculations I’d love to use Anytype for:
USE CASES
Listing my Subscriptions/Plans with monthly costs in Anytype and having an autimatically calculated sum
Tracking my Expenses and having an automated sum or average
Tracking my Bank Accounts with sum/average
Listing Items in my pantry and having automated number of items
I could go on and on. The principle is always the same. I want to be able to use basic calculations with cells, relations and maybe even in plain text.
I too find that calculations and formulas are about the only thing of significant value missing in Anytype. It is the main blocker to using it more fully in place of other tools.
Hi!
I saw some people tried to make a “progress” type of relation in some other topic, but the technic is not automatic. I think it uses emojis and you have to change manually.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE?
I would love something automatic, which would be related to another object - tasks for example.
So that if you have a pro
No, not in the roadmap yet.
At the moment there is “behind the scenes” a switching to another database in work that needs a lot time to become fully implemented.
Derived Relations depend on the new database.
Therefore we will get it after that - it looks that we can expect it in the next year, but not in 2024.
Hello Anytype Team,
I know there is a lot going on right now and many things to work but if maybe it would be okay to ask for an update on this Feature request?
I understand if there has not been any progress on this yet. even an update on just that would be Appreciated.
also, could you explain your plans for this feature moving forward? (you might have already and I just missed that information, please forgive me).
I just wanted to share my heart on this one as this has prevented me from moving all my Notion Work stuff into anytype yet and right now, that is the most important part of my life.
Would be very helpful if the databases has a formula column to allow simple math operations or text generation with concatenated content.
USE CASES
A formula column that takes an anual cost value (a number from another column) and divide it to have the monthly cost from something.
A formula column that takes the start date from column A and the end date from column B to indicate a duration, for example, from a project.
A formula column with an “IF” statement where you could return a message. “IF” column A contains “DONE”, than write “The project is concluded.”
SIMPLER APPROACH
A formula column with simple math operations that manipulate values from number columns would be already helpful.

Notion and Coda.io both have formula columns, but if you need to take good inspiration, take a look at what Coda.io did. They design a whole system around formula columns and brought it even to the canvas, where you can create formulas in the middle of texts and you can create really complex systems from it.
