Wrong apps for opening mp3 files

WHAT IS THE BUG

I have attached mp3 files that work perfectly on Windows, but when I try to open them on Android I get only two options for apps, which is my maps app (Magic Earth) and OpenKeychain. Anytype seems to confuse the filetype here.

HOW TO REPRODUCE IT

  1. Upload an mp3 file
  2. Open the created object in Anytype Android and click on the file

THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Open my player app with the mp3 file playing (or play it within Anytype if that is already possible, seems to work with m4a files).

SYSTEM INFORMATIONS

  • OS: Android 10
  • Device: bq Aquaris X Pro
  • Anytype Version: 0.12.0

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

An mp3 file embedded within another object is no problem: In Windows it shows me a player within Anytype, Android correctly opens my music player app when I click on the mentioned file.

Do you have a default audio player assigned on your Android device? On my phone, Anytype opens VLC, which I have set as default audio player in my Android settings.

Thanks for adding the issue! My default audio player is Musicolet, which opens embedded files as described in the original post. I installed VLC to check, but the issue remains.

Yeah…Anytype’s handling of audio files leaves a lot to be desired. I can’t say when exactly because development hasn’t begun, but someday Anytype will be able to support audio natively. It’s a pet project of several of our team members, so this is very close to our hearts as well.

That is great to hear! I use it a lot with audio files, mostly for storing ideas I recorded. If there is any help I can bring, feel free to contact me.
