Wallpaper colors are affected by Appearance Mode

Describe the bug
The wallpaper colors are modified by the mode selected in the appearance settings.
When the Dark mode option is selected, the Home Screen wallpaper is darkened.
As far as I can tell, when the Light mode option is selected, the Home Screen wallpaper is unaffected.

Dark mode:

Light mode:

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open “Appearance Settings” and select a wallpaper.
  2. Select an Appearance mode.
  3. Home Screen wallpaper is affected by the different modes.

Expected behavior
I would like that the Appearance mode not have an impact on the custom wallpaper.

System Information:

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro
  • Device Manufacturer/Model: Desktop
  • Anytype Version: 0.29.0 (reported in 0.26.1)

Additional context
I’m not sure if this is a bug or a design choice, and I imagine there are users who would like that the theme impacts the Home Screen wallpaper. Maybe include a setting to adjust this behavior?

@Cernel1337 thanks for sharing, this is very interesting! I’m hoping someone from the Anytype team can shed some light (hehe) on this or check with the Devs if this is intended. Maybe it is a side effect of some “prep work” for the implementation of this feature request?

Yes, this is by design to dim high contrast wallpapers a bit in a dark mode.

@Razor makes sense! Would it be possible to make this optional in the settings? The option to set different wallpapers for the different modes would be even better

We are reworking homescreen experience so I close this request. It will be irrelevant in the new flow.
