When a file is uploaded into an object, the file is stuck in the “Uploading…” state in the sync status indicator. This appears to be a problem with the backup nodes, as the file is inaccessible when peer devices are offline.
This seems to have happened after the hardware outage a few days ago.
HOW TO REPRODUCE IT
Upload a file into Anytype, preferably where file sync status is available.
Wait a few minutes. Check back with the file sync status - it should still display as “Uploading.”
THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
I expected the backup node functionality to function after the outage.
SYSTEM INFORMATIONS
OS: macOS 12.5.1
Device: MacBook Air M1 2020
Anytype Version: 0.28.0 Desktop
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT
There’s some important files I have stored that haven’t been pinned to the backup nodes yet. Will they automatically be uploaded when the functionality works again?
@edwards@Flip Thank you for you feedback.
Yep, looks like backup-node outage resulted in the file upload queue got increased and revealed the bug in the queue processing we had no chance to notice before.
We have fixed the issue and all the pending files should be uploaded soon. I will post an update here as soon as the queue will return to the normal state
Looks like the file pinning is back to the normal condition. As soon as you will open your anytype client it should start to pin your encrypted files on our backup node.
We’ve also implemented additional metrics and alerts for this kind of issue. Thank you for reporting!
