Describe the bug
Minor issue. The bookmark feature in pages typically shows a little excerpt of whatever is linked. However, for Twitter, it displays: “This browser is no longer supported. Please switch to a supported browser to continue using twitter.com […]”.
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Go to any page and create a bookmark.
- Type in any twitter.com link, including “http://twitter.com/” itself.
- The bookmark preview will display the following:
The bookmark preview will display an actual preview, similar to how the following displays for google.com:
Desktop (please complete the following information):
- OS: Windows 10
- Version: 0.17.2
@riazaku Thank you for the notice! It has been added to the bug tracker.
I am also experiencing issues with Twitter links with the Bookmark functionality, but it seems like the error message has changed since then.
It appears that every “twitter.com” and “mobile.twitter.com” site will fail to embed, with the error message "Something went wrong, but don’t fret – let’s give it another shot. Profile pages, Tweets, and the root website itself are all affected. Twitter subdomains, such as “help.twitter.com” do succeed. Other applications that parse webpage titles, descriptions and images, such as Discord and Telegram, succeed in displaying the information.
This issue also occurs on the mobile iOS and Android apps - the preview and Twitter error message doesn’t load and will only display the raw URL itself.
This is absolutely not a significant issue, but being able to preview the Tweet within a Bookmark block is useful for understanding the content of a Tweet at a glance, without opening it.
It appears as if Amazon.com product pages are also affected by this problem.
