Syncing barely works

Describe the bug
Syncing almost never works. Both devices say “Synced” but they show different information. I have to restart the apps on both devices several times before they decide to sync correctly. Sometimes the sync is only partially complete – I’ll add an object on my phone, and it’ll start syncing it to my Mac but stops half-way through typing the title and now I’ve got an incomplete object on one end that never syncs to the other predictably.

To Reproduce
Make any change on any device. Syncing will not keep up with the changes.

Expected behavior
Both devices should show the exact same information quickly and predictably.

System Information:

  • OS: Android 12 (Bliss ROM), macOS Monterey 12.3
  • Device Manufacturer/Model: OnePlus 7T, MacBook Pro M1
  • Anytype Version: 0.24.0 (macOS), v0.6.0-alpha (0.17.27) (Android)

Hey,
are you behind a proxy? Or having some other limitations?
Do you have this problems also in a local network?

Yes, I’m using iCloud Private Relay. This is happening on local network. I don’t think Private Relay should be an issue, one of my own apps works only on local network and it’s not affected by it.

Could you try it without the Private Relay function for some time, to be sure?

That somehow made it worse. Now when it manages to sync, it loads in outdated information that overwrites the changes I’ve made and want to sync.

I experience the same.

Edit: Windows laptop, Android phone

What device combination do you use?

Im facing sync problems since I use Anytype which is over a year now. On windows as well as android I have a bunch of objects that are not syncing. At least 20 objects. On android alot of objects are syncing since weeks. Once the “sync is complete” there are always a bunch of objects that simple never sync. I found out that one issue related to this sync issue is when an object is linked to many times within other objects.

Are your sync issues from one platform to another?
I don’t seem to have problem with multiple desktop apps on different machines. But syncing from/to mobile sometimes doesn’t work that well.

I created most of my content on Windows. When I reinstall Anytype I always have a bunch of objects that do not sync. Same for android. I think it’s a common issue. I haven’t paid attention between sync issues from one platform to another lately.

The picture with the 7 objects not syncing are objects that never sync unfortunately : (

I’m still experiencing this.

I’ve seen Vova’s post on workarounds, but I’d rather wait until this is fixed.

Is there an ETA for this?

Hey @qualquertipo and @XxxBalCion and @pixelsnis . Thank you for reporting the issue.
Could you please do this in the desktop client

File - Object diagnostics
File - Tree diagnostics with opened object with which you are experiencing problems.
Send 2 debug files to us support@anytype.io and link this topic.
This will help to debug the sync issue you are experiencing

As I mentioned in a previous post, I don’t have access to my laptop for a few weeks. Can do this once I’m back.

Hi, since the 0.9.0 update (I’m not sure though, it may just be that I never noticed before) I’m facing syncing issues on my phone (LineageOS 19.1, Android 12, Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro). Some objects are stuck on syncing. In the desktop application I can see the “synced” label.

Should I do this?

I have a Set that shows on Android and doesn’t on my desktop client (Windows).
Do your instructions apply to Sets as well?

In any case, I can’t open the set on desktop (as it does’t show there, neither can be found via Search).
