Sort Sets by Random

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND

The ability to sort sets randomly.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE

Especially once in-line sets are available, I would like to be able to use a set view to display one or more random objects in a dashboard-like interface that I would build inside of a new Page object. A shuffle function would be preferable.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

To be prompted with a random object from a specific set in a card or gallery-view.

RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

In Notion, I used a formula that generated a seed based on the creation time of the note, which gave me a random sort every minute. This was clunky, and I would like to have more control than that. Obsidian also has the Random Note core plugin that serves a similar purpose.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

Random associations and prompts assist with creative thinking. Being presented with an idea that I’ve recorded as a note on-demand would let me (re)explore topics that I’ve shown enough of an interest in to take notes on. Notion has a very clunky way to pull this off, and there are userscripts on Mac that allow a similar function in Evernote. None of these options are ideal.

That’s a good one.

Another (slightly related) nice one would be “random insight”, where the app suggests interesting connections that the user might not have noticed. Something like “You always finish reading books right before you go on a big trip” or “Bob is the person with most connections within your knowledge base” (with links to the data that reveals that). I have a feeling PKM software will start doing this soon. Not sure if it will be useful or creepy.

This would be great for widget too.
