Show tooltips on hovering over object names and other truncated texts

Describe the bug
When hovering over the overflow ellipses on a pop-up such as the “Change Object Type” dialog, the truncated information is not shown.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to any existing object (or Add New Object)
  2. Click on ‘Object type: ’ under the Object header
  3. Click on the ‘Object type’ box that pops up
  4. Hover mouse over any object type whose description overflows (shows the ellipses)
  5. Nothing shows up

Expected behavior
On hovering over any object type whose description overflows (shows the ellipses), the full description text should show up on a tooltip. At the very least, the information should show when hovering over or clicking the ellipses.

System Information:

  • OS: Windows 10
  • Device Manufacturer/Model: Custom build
  • Anytype Version: 0.21.9

Hey @gokussjx,
do you mean that this text should be completely visible?

@Flip, indeed. As visible in your screenshot, a good chunk of the information is truncated and there’s no way to view it from that dialog.

Thank you for clarifying.

Hello!

The Problem

When an item in the search bar has a long name, it is cut off by an ellipsis.
This can be inconvenient when trying to search for an object among several with similar names.

The Solution
Anytype already has numerous tooltips placed throughout the application.

Having one come up when an object’s title in the search bar is hovered, would prove extremely helpful. Ideally, this tooltip would just state the full name of the hovered object, maybe in a smaller font.

Additional Info
This feature could also be useful in set views (as object names or relations are often cut off due to their length).

Thank you for reading, have a great day!
