Problem with the text editor with regards to linking

WHAT IS THE BUG

This is not new but I thought I would mention it. When we select a bunch of text and want to link it to another object via Command + K or the pop-up menu, the text gets underlined. But the problem is that when you start typing after that text, the words would also gets underlined and be part of the linked text. The worst part is that there is no way to break that link for the new words. You have to first, unlink the selected text, then start typing after that and then come back and link the intended text.

HOW TO REPRODUCE IT

  1. type something
  2. select the last couple of words
  3. link them
  4. start typing again

THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

To be able to somehow unlink the following words or the editor stop linking all the words that are being typed after the intended one
