WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND
I would like to be able to collapse some of my Kanban columns into just the header, which ideally would show an aggregate count of tasks within that column. Right now, when you hide a group/column, it disappears completely.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE
Potentially an item in the column settings to Collapse Column (have not thought of what icon would be nice).
REAL WORLD USE CASES
After a long time, my “Done” column has a lot of tasks in it for any particular filter or project. I would typically collapse this column (but still show the header) so I can drag tasks into it but keep it neat in the UI. A count of how many tasks in the column could be nice too (potentially all columns) so we have an overall understanding of the progress for a particular project/effort.
RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES
You can technically hide the “Done” column, then change the status within the task itself, but I like the UX of dragging the items to change the status. An alternative would just be to use the existing “Hide” functionality to show a small sidebar which summarizes your hidden groups (this is how Notion looks, sorry):
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT
I think the scope is relatively limited, so I won’t provide additional context.
