#### WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND?

To be able to choose which image is shown in a gallery or grid view rather than only using a cover image. A cover image is by default horizontal and not suitable for all use cases.

#### HOW COULD IT BE DONE?

Having a labelled image field in a template to be used as the featured image?

#### REAL WORLD USE CASES

Currently I have very similar book and Movie/TV program objects, Looking like this:

 ![Book Note](https://community-static.anytype.io/original/3X/f/b/fb043d747fc9ec5b4640af0f8258eb3bbce25b26.jpeg)
This produces a Gallery image like this:
 ![Current View](https://community-static.anytype.io/original/3X/b/a/baaa4436e93d2d9d2deb7dd51235fcfd85953b79.png)
In Obsidan my Gallery view was a bit like this:
 ![Gallery View](https://community-static.anytype.io/original/3X/8/f/8f77a469fb424f82f0ef40817542c684f59a37c9.jpeg)
and the table view was like this:
 ![Table View](https://community-static.anytype.io/original/3X/b/d/bd4ec0b87f33a53222c788e62525c7ba57a7ad2e.jpeg)
So what I am looking for is something like this:
 ![Suggested View](https://community-static.anytype.io/original/3X/8/b/8bf6cfcc970b1ce9f5f779b10b029087a3727e59.png)

#### RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

I don’t think there is a work around. It is either using an image that is not a book cover or having no image.

#### ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

It was suggested as item ten in this post [Every Missing Thing About Collections and Sets](https://community.anytype.io/t/every-missing-thing-about-collections-and-sets/17404)

You can use any file relation you want, you just need to first add it to the set.

The template has this section where I add the link to the image.
I added a new relation and called it Movie Image selecting the media and image option

But it still doesn’t appear in the gallery view?

Have you added the relation to the set? It’s not automatically added.

This is the section you need to check:

If your relations doesn’t appear here, you won’t be able to pick it in the cover setting.

Yes, it is there and turned on. Is it to do with adding the image via URL rather than uploading it? This is my preferred method as it will use less space.

Can you share what appears in this menu for you?

Movie Image should be there.
If it’s not showing, then it’s a bug.

When you add an image to an picture block using an URL, the image is still downloaded.

I also sense that there might be another problem. You might be adding the image to the picture block, and thinking that it would automatically show up in your Movie Image relation? You also need to manually add the files to the relation.

Thank you, that resolves it. I was just adding it in to the picture block. I hadn’t realised the images were downloaded when linked in this way. Could I therefore put in a request to be able to use the webp type? to condense the images. I don’t know if there is any compressing behind the scenes? I’m just thinking long term when there may be hundreds or more photos in the account.

We already have plans for image embedding. Please check this topic, and my reply [here](https://community.anytype.io/t/embed-image-from-web/19150/13).

I have it working now, is it possible to change the setting somewhere so the image shows to the side instead of the top and doesn’t have a grey background? I couldn’t find a setting anywhere to change this. Thank you.

No way to place it to the right, but you might be able to get rid of the gray margins by enabling or disabling `Fit media`.

OK thanks, when I took away fit media I only had a small portion visible. Maybe one day down the line there can be more setting options to control how the gallery looks - it is only cosmetic so not vital.
