Missing libfuse2 on Ubuntu 22.04

Describe the bug
I’m unable to run AnyType after upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04. It appears that Ubuntu is transitioning away from libfuse2, which is required by AppImage. I get this error when launching:

$ ./Anytype-0.25.4.AppImage
dlopen(): error loading libfuse.so.2

AppImages require FUSE to run.
You might still be able to extract the contents of this AppImage
if you run it with the --appimage-extract option.
See https://github.com/AppImage/AppImageKit/wiki/FUSE
for more information

Temporary fix for 22.04 is:

sudo add-apt-repository universe
sudo apt install libfuse2

We have snap builds but as we are not fully released yet we didn’t register on the snapcraft, so after the release AppImage would be gone hopefully.

Are you also planning a flatpak version? I think a lot of people would prefer it over snaps.

See this thread as an example:

I can add whatever you like from here Any Linux Target - electron-builder, would add flatpack, apt and pacman then.

@Razor that sounds great! Does that mean Anytype can be released on the app package platforms you mention? If so, probably relevant to update the downloads page accordingly :slight_smile:

Fantastic news :ok_hand:. Thank you so much for your response!

app package platforms would be after public release
