Markdown formatting formats wrong spans of text

THE BUG

If the text that I want to italicize or embolden via Markdown contains a solidus/slash character (“/”), and if the first character after what I want italicized or emboldened is a punctuation mark, the span is not formatted and the Markdown formatting characters are retained in the text.

HOW TO REPRODUCE IT

  1. Type text into a new note or page.
  2. Type * or _ or ** to initate Markdown formatting.
  3. Type more text, being sure to include a solidus/slash (/).
  4. Type a little more text.
  5. Type the closing * or _ or **.
  6. Continue typing…

All of these are examples that do not work correctly currently:

input expected output actual output
He, she, *and/or it*. He, she, and/or it. He, she,*and/or it*.
They (**he/she**) are going They (he/she) are going They (**he/she**) are going
The recipe calls for _3/5_, or 60% The recipe calls for 3/5, or 60% The recipe calls for _3/5_, or 60%
