There are many major and minor bugs with Tags that cause confusion. I think it would be great if someone from the Anytype team could share the vision of how tags _should_ work so we can all submit bugs towards that vision. Secondly, I will list several tag-related bugs in different categories. ## Tag storage and retrieval The most important category is “Tag storage and retrieval”, meaning: creating new tags (name and color) and seeing those created tags back as suggestions in the right place with the correct properties (correct name and color). - Minor: Tags sometimes seem to popup in the wrong Relation [Tags memorized within a relation seem inconsitent - #13 by Oshyan](https://community.anytype.io/t/tags-memorized-within-a-relation-seem-inconsitent/1462/13) [Tags are not relation specific - #9 by Kite](https://community.anytype.io/t/tags-are-not-relation-specific/1472/9) - Minor: Tag colors are not saved properly and sometimes jump back to their previous state [Tag colors are reverting back to their original colors](https://community.anytype.io/t/tag-colors-are-reverting-back-to-their-original-colors/2817) - Major: Tag names seem to have the same issue [Renamed tags revert back to their original form](https://community.anytype.io/t/renamed-tags-revert-back-to-their-original-form/4060) - Major: Deleting tags deletes those tags from existing tagged Objects, but the tag itself is not deleted [Tag options cannot be deleted from the dropdown menu](https://community.anytype.io/t/tag-options-cannot-be-deleted-from-the-dropdown-menu/1467) ## Tags in Sets Also important, but maybe less than the storage of tags (?) is working with Tags in Sets (adding, removing, editing). - Major: when a Set is sorted on tags, adding multiple tags in one “go” causes the incorrect tags to be added to the incorrect Objects [Changing tags in set view changes tags from other pages](https://community.anytype.io/t/changing-tags-in-set-view-changes-tags-from-other-pages/4580) - Minor: Sorting on Tags in a Set does not work properly in general (checking whether these topics are duplicates or not) [Sorting set by Tag or Status orders objects incorrectly](https://community.anytype.io/t/sorting-set-by-tag-orders-objects-incorrectly/2922) [Sort setting on 'Tag' relations not obeyed by Grid view in Sets - #6](https://community.anytype.io/t/sort-setting-on-tag-relations-not-obeyed-by-grid-view-in-sets/1603/6) [Sorting tag type relations does not work in sets - #2 by Kirill\_Lem](https://community.anytype.io/t/sorting-tag-type-relations-does-not-work-in-sets/3582/2) ## Adding Tags in Objects - Minor: editing a new Tag during the creation process only works with the keyboard [Cursor cannot be moved in the Tag Relation field and always jumps to the start](https://community.anytype.io/t/cursor-cannot-be-moved-in-the-tag-relation-field-and-always-jumps-to-the-start/7070) - Minor: there is always a space in the Tag Relation field before adding your first tag [There is always a space in certain Relation fields - #2 by kerbless](https://community.anytype.io/t/there-is-always-a-space-in-certain-relation-fields/7071/2) - Minor: menu to add a partially typed tag remains after clicking an existing tag [Minor bug when adding tags by typing partial string then clicking on desired tag - #6 by sambouwer](https://community.anytype.io/t/minor-bug-when-adding-tags-by-typing-partial-string-then-clicking-on-desired-tag/5748/6) Please link any other issues I’ve missed in a post below and I’ll update my post! ---

Great summary! I’ve personally faced many of these. Also some of the issues mentioned seem to happen with “statuses” too. ---

Yes, I believe sorting is also affected for status relations ---

Hey @sambouwer thank you for organising and prioritizing this list! We have documented these issues and will be addressing tag logic fully to make sure that the flow is sensible and bugs are taken care of. For give a rough expectation, the team is occupied for the couple of sprints with relations refactoring and types/relations decluttering. After that we look forward to implementing improvements to the Tags and Templates flows 🙂 ---

Just by accident, I caught Anytype changing the color and the name of my tag. I haven’t done much. Just renaming an existing tag and maybe hit enter. I also have multiple tags that are still not deletable and keep showing up again like already mentioned in the post. ---

- Creating or renaming a tag creates a new, different tag with a random name you can not delete (happen twice within the last 5min. Also happened before.) - When renaming a tag, the cursor jumps to the search every time - After the cursor jumps, - enter - doesn’t safe the changes for the renamed tag - After renaming a tag, - enter - selects a random tag and assigns it to the object ---
