February Update

Spring has finally sprung in both London and Berlin, with temperatures reaching a welcome 16ºC this week. It’s hard not to be a little optimistic about 2021 with weather this good. If our Telegram seems quieter on the weekends, the weather may be why. On to the updates:

:brick: Product.

We’re making some great headway on the product. All focus right now is on databases. We’ve limited new feature development and are focusing on polish and stability. Just last week I received the first build of our Android application with support for databases. If the team is happy with the build, our alpha testers should find a similar version in Firebase soon.

:apple: iOS Development.

Some fantastic news for those of us who bleed six colours. Anytype now has a team of three dedicated to native iOS development. Though it’s early days, the team has already made some great progress, and will be on-track to release their first beta alongside our Android and desktop releases.

⟳ Sync Speed.

Early tests of the latest [go-libp2p-core](GitHub - libp2p/go-libp2p-core: Interfaces and abstractions that make up go-libp2p) (v0.8.5) show an increase in sync speed of 2x. We’ll keep testing this for now, but this sure is promising.

:bulb: Databases.

It’s happening, they’re coming. We’re rolling out a survey to our current alpha testers to find out:

  • Information recently stored in databases
  • Fields and properties used to sort & manage that information
  • Templates most used in the last 6-12 months
  • Examples of template structures

Those responses will help us build out templates for everyone to get started with on day one. We’ll be opening more consultations with the wider community in the coming months.

As always you can reach out to us via email (hello at anytype dot io) or over on [Telegram](Telegram: Contact @anytype). In the meantime, I hope you have a great March!
