Auto generating page icons are not necessary and is very random at current stage. Most of the time I find my self deleting the icon or switching to what I find the most appropriate, which means there is extra step taken to modify the page to my liking.

Not generating icon when creating page OR creating icon based on title
Assigning an icon to a page based on its title might be very difficult to achieve, so the effort needed would not be worth it. I very much like the idea of not autogenerating page icons.
I honestly like the autogeneration feature, however I do agree with the generation being too random. I don’t want my pages to have random flags 
Maybe reducing the set of emojis that get selected can help here?
Icons aren’t automatically chosen anymore in the current releases.
