Cant paste links as inline code without made clickable

Describe the bug
When I paste an URL and want that URL to be formatted as inline code, the “external link” icon is added when pasted. So far so good. But when I format the URL as “inline code”, the icon stays and the link is clickable.
In the ways I use it, I never used clickable inline links. So I think formatting as inline code should remove the icon and the possibility to click the link.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Paste link and “dismiss”
  2. Select the link
  3. Press Ctrl+L

Expected behavior
Removed icon and text not being clickable.
