Account successfully created on MacBook Air M2 with invite code. Trying to login on iPhone or iPad using either the passphrase or QR code results in “Account recover error, try again”.
HOW TO REPRODUCE IT
Open app
Click “Login”.
Scan QR code OR enter recovery phrase
Error occurs
THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
I expect to be logged in and see data syncing
SYSTEM INFORMATION
iOS 16.5 and iPad OS 16.4.1 (a)
Anytype version 0.21.0 (36)
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT
The system is working for me on desktop (Mac)
When I use the QR code to login, the recovery phrase is automatically entered correctly.
I’m also getting the same issue. Have tried logging in via Recovery Phrase and QR code on both iPhone and iPad and I keep getting an Account Recovery Error.
Has anyone found a solution for this? I am eager to jump in to Anytype and start contributing to the community but I’m hesitant to spend any time on it right now when I can’t even log in on multiple devices. I’m worried it will take a new account with a new recovery phrase or something in order to work properly.
same! the bugs are killing it for me. I really want this to work though. I know it’s in alpha/beta, but I think they could have waited just a little longer before they released it. I think it’s brave of them to have released it to small groups though. I hope they give me a free for life license lol . I think the iOS app is not syncing because the full version hasn’t been released on the App store yet, just my best guess.
It’s not “released” - it isn’t even a beta yet - it’s pre-beta. The pint of the nightly-ops group is to test it before the beta is opened up.
Sure, bugs are irritating, and sometimes show-stopping - when we signed up to test, we accepted that we’d encounter bugs.
We all want this to work and work well - some of the testers have invested years so far - but I think we need to respect the team and the work they’re doing. Especially since the application costs us nothing but whatever time we want to invest.
Yeah, you’re right, I was being a little bit of a jerk, my bad. I also appreciate you clarifying the Alpha vs Beta thing to me, I wasn’t sure exactly what the difference was tbh.
No, not really. We all get caught up in the enthusiasm sometimes.
You’re welcome - it 's sometimes hard to keep track. Back in the good old days (well, they weren’t so much “good” as just “old”) betas didn’t see the light of day, never mind alphas, which usually struggled to get past a splash screen. The recent trend for for large-scale betas has benefits but probably generates problems - there are plenty of people who don’t want to test - they just want early (and free) access).
I used to manage software development so I may be a bit over-protective of the dev team.
