Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I got a bit sad that i was not able to use a GIF as a page icon/cover.
It’s not a deal breaker tho, but it would be a nice addition to make things more dynamic.
Describe the solution you’d like
Being able to use GIF as wallpaper, object/page icon and cover.
Describe alternatives you’ve considered
I tried using similar animated file formats such as Animated PNG and WEBP but it also did not work.
Additional context
As i said before, not a deal breaker, but it would be a nice addition ^u^

GIFs can be used as covers, as your wallpaper, and (surprisingly) even as icons; they just usually take very long to upload and do not appear in the popup explorer menu (as a result, you’ll just have to type the file’s name and select it).

Thanks to you I found what is the core issue behind this.
The bug
When uploading (as an exemple) a .gif file for an Object cover or icon, Anytype does not list all the filetypes that are eligible. Doing so, users cannot upload .gif files because the system prompt neither list nor display .gif files.
How to reproduce it
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Try to upload .gif file as a cover through “Choose image” feature.
Then the system prompt appears.
Go to the folder where your .gif file is located.
You cannot see it, so you cannot (easily) upload…
