Anytype not able to sync behind a VPN

Describe the bug
I am using Anytype on several devices. A personal Mac, an iPhone and my work laptop.

On my work laptop

  • Working from home: I have to use a VPN and Anytype is not able to sync. If I disable the VPN, Anytype is indeed able to sync.
  • Working from office: Doesn’t work regardless if use or not the VPN

Might be also the root cause of this problem:

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Launch Anytype
  2. Wait for the Synchronisation to happen
  3. See the error No connection

Expected behavior
Being able to sync the data.

System Information:

  • OS: macOS Monterey 12.4
  • Device Manufacturer/Model: Apple MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)
  • Anytype Version: Anytype-0.25.0-mac-x64

Hi @dandooze, thanks for reporting. I think there has been a brief outage of the backup node, which might have caused the “No connection” message (not sure if this was confirmed by Anytype). If you still experience this at the time I’m writing this, it cannot be caused by that brief outage. unfortunately it is still happening, so I am afraid the culprit is the VPN. I will report my network configuration as you suggested
