By “contextual menu” I mean the menu that comes up when you select text and right-click (Windows) or simply select text (Android, mobile). Example below. If anyone knows the correct (or a better) term, please let me know!
WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND
Ability to perform certain actions with Anytype from the OS contextual menu.
For example, if I’m reading a text and there is mention to an author, I’d like to be able to select their name and then Create an Object in Anytype having that as title (even if app is closed).
HOW COULD IT BE DONE
As described above.
REAL WORLD USE CASES
Ideally this should be customizable, allowing for a variety of situations. Here are some examples of menu entries I’d like to be able to create (note one could have more than one menu entry for AT):
- “Create Anytype Object”: adds the object as default type, having the selected text as title and an “Inbox” tag (done in the background);
- “Create and Open Anytype Object”: same as above, but AT opens and cursor is placed on body;
- “Add as Person in Anytype”: same as above, but as a Person type
- “Add as Body in Anytype”: selected text goes to the body of a new Object, with cursor placed on title
In other words, each user would create the entry (or entries) that best suits their workflow.
RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES
Doing it by manually, step by step. Lots of friction.
ADDITIONAL CONTEXT
I thought about this one awhile ago but forgot to post. Was remembered by this post, which is different, but somewhat related:
