Anytype consumes too much memory

WHAT IS THE BUG

ᅟAnytype consumes memory > 1GiB

HOW TO REPRODUCE IT

Just open anytype, do nothing for three days.

THE EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Anytype should not consume that much memory.

How do you know, that this is “too much”?
It looks normal from my experience.

Though Anytype isn’t optimized for minimal ressources yet.

This doesn’t look like too much. Right now on macOS, Anytype (while idle) is using about 560MB across its different helpers for me.

I agree. From my experience with Windows applications, 1GB for just opening an application (and with not much data in AT, I assume?) does seem like a lot.


this is my dev build, we will check this concern on Windows as well.

It’s taking 1.2GB for me on Linux (Gnome).
Agree that it’s quite high, especially when doing nothing myself with it.

This issue has been added to our issue tracker and was received by the Development Team.

I think this is partially caused by the Electron framework that is quite RAM heavy (source).

We have found potential memory leak, so we are investigating it. P.S. it’s not Electron =)
