Allow Predictive Text in Android

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND

Enable predictive text when typing in android.

It’s turned on in my keyboard’s settings, but predictions (above the keyboard) don’t show up when I’m typing in Anytype.

HOW COULD IT BE DONE

An extra line should be displayed above the onscreen keyboard showing word predictions. This shows up in any app that I use, so I’m assuming Anytype is overriding my keyboard’s setting.

REAL WORLD USE CASES

It helps when I’m in a hurry and I’m typing long words, words with apostrophes, or specific terms that I’ve used before (therefore saved in my keyboard) but I’m not sure about the spelling.

RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES

Type every letter/character manually and check spelling while typing.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT

I think this is different from spellcheck because as I’ve mentioned above, I could be typing a made up word (like a name, brand name, or a complex term) that’s not in the dictionary. If I’ve typed it before, my keyboard would suggest it to me even if it’s not an actual word, therefore saving me time from typing the whole word or looking up the spelling.

@Kerstie Hi! That’s interesting.

We had no intention of disabling this functionality on purpose.

Could you please share what device and OS version you are using?

Hi. I’m using Samsung A52, android 13, anytype 0.14.

Below is a screen recording from Instagram. It’s the keyboard’s expected behavior.
