Basically, it’s text formatting that is blacked out until you click on it, when the text displays normally.
HOW COULD IT BE DONE
Add a new type of text formatting in addition to the existing Bold/Italic/Strikethrough. The text block would be blacked out until it was clicked on, in which case it would render as it normally would. The "clicked on "state would not persist anywhere. Once navigating away from the page and returning to it, the text blocked would be blacked out again until clicked on again.
REAL WORLD USE CASES
The use case for this is: I’m trying to learn a new language and I am putting practice exercises on a page/table, and I want the answers to be blacked out until I click on them.
RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVES
It was recommended to use collapsing blocks in lieu of this feature. However, that type of object cannot be used in a table cell, and a table is exactly the use case I’m looking for (and probably other use cases if I spent some time to think about it).
@Filip I think this is an excellent example of the power of Anytype. No, there is no OOTB flash card or spoiler text option, but you can achieve the same with existing functionality! Well done! Did you present this in one of the user community powered demo calls?
This is super cool. It’s a bit work to set up, but looks worthwhile. I actually am already using a flashcard app on my phone for words which works nicely for words and categories of words, but not so good for practicing phrases/sentences, which is why I was looking for the table/strikethrough text feature in Anytype. Though maybe I can find a way to shoehorn phrases/sentences into the app since I’m already using it.
